Last September I applied for what my college calls PDS. PDS stands for Professional Development School, which is a year long student teaching experience. This means I will actually be with my CT and students through the entire school year. It's really going to be a lot of long hours, but I'm confident I can handle it. I'm thankful to be at a university that offers experiences that in the long run can make me a better teacher. I was accepted into the program in October, but just recently found out what age I will be teaching.
Drum roll please!
I will be working with Second grade and I couldn't be happier! As of right now I think Second grade is the grade I hope to teach someday. I'm hoping this experience helps me decide if Second grade is right for me. In the next coming weeks, I will contact my CT and set up a meeting. From there I will learn more about their teaching styles, what their classroom is like and basic procedures.
While I have to respect my CT and my student's privacy, I hope to be able to keep notes on here throughout the process. This may range from my weekly reflections, lessons I write and teach for my Second graders, classroom management ideas and various other things I encounter. Please check back in the Fall for all my exciting stories!
I started a board to collect pins that might come in handy next year: Life in Second Grade: PDS Edition.
Have a good one!
