When the days get long, the lessons didn't go as you had planned and the students tested every last nerve in your body, remember: you are doing the best job in the world. Not everyone one is cut out to teach a group of 24 students, 5 days a week for 8 hours a day. And not everyone has the attention to detail to notice that a student is craving extra attention they aren't receiving at home by acting out.
My mom always warns me the trouble with being a teacher will be that I won't make very much. She knows money doesn't drive me in life, but she doesn't want me living at home forever either. I'm in year three of college now and my parents are both on board 100% with my career path because they know as long as I'm doing something I love I will be happy. That's what matters to me. Not fancy shoes (unless they are Brooks) or nice handbags.

To my current and future teacher friends, we get to make a difference in the lives of our students. We have the power to encourage our students each and everyday to be the best they can be.
Now go forward. And remember, doing what you love is the best job in the world. #1book1life
